Door & window solutions

Our pultruded door and window solutions provide producers efficiency and long lasting quality. A particular area of expertise for us involves intricate profiles with numerous details.

We use glass reinforced plastic (GRP) to create a composite material with high strength and low weight. The material is corrosion resistant, maintenance free and has excellent dimensional stability.

By employing state of the art proprietary pultrusion technology, Spilka Composites is capable of pultruding thin walled profiles with complex shapes at high speed. As a result GRP profiles have now become a competitive alternative to traditional materials in the door and window industry.

Fire resistance in composite materials

Fire resistance in composite materials is achieved through a combination of selecting appropriate resins and reinforcements, incorporating fire-retardant additives, applying protective coatings, and utilizing synergistic approaches to fire safety. These strategies make composites suitable for high-performance applications where both strength and fire safety are paramount.

This makes composite products an ideal choice for fire doorsets.

Window & door frames

Spilka Composites' cutting-edge pultrusion technology enables the rapid production of thin-walled, complex profiles, positioning GRP profiles as a strong alternative to traditional materials. These profiles are easily machined with diamond-edged or carbide blades and drill bits, much like conventional materials.

High dimensional stability

The coefficient of expansion of glass fibre reinforced polyester profiles is very low and almost identical to that of float glass. Expansion and contraction with changing temperatures is minimal and the profiles retain their stiffness at high temperatures.

High strength to weight ratio

GRP is used to replace steel in many applications due to its high strength to weight ratio. Due to its high strength further profile reinforcement is unnecessary and it is therefore a excellent choice for heavier 3 pane windows and exterior doors.

Compatible with other materials

You can make the entire window from GRP profiles or you can combine the profiles with traditional window and door materials such as wood or aluminium to achieve maximum user benefits.

Easy to machine

By using diamond edged or carbide cutting blades and drill bits, GRP profiles can be processed in much the same way as the window and door materials you are used to.

Multiple finishing options

The profiles can be coloured in the pultrusion process, painted in virtually any colour in our own profile painting facilities or foiled to give a textured finnish.

High corrosion resistance

GRP fibre profiles are not only maintenance free, they are also well suited for use in corrosive industrial environment, being resistant to most corrosive liquids and gases.

Low thermal conductivity

The material has extremely low thermal conductivity, making GRP a more effective insulator compared to traditional window and door materials.

Composite thresholds

Spilka Composite thresholds are made of fibreglass reinforced thermoset resin. The threshold gives the door an elegant look and major door manufacturers are converting from aluminium and hardwood to composite thresholds. The threshold is suitable for all kinds of doors in any material and is used in a large variety of entrance and balcony doors.

Some customers choose to use our standard threshold, which is adapted to the requirements of handicap-fitted houses and buildings, while other prefer their own design.

Why composite thresholds?

There are many properties that make Spilka Composite thresholds superior to aluminum and wood.

✓ High strength

✓ High stiffness

✓ Low weight

✓ Excellent thermal stability and insulation properties will minimize the heat loss

✓ Resistant to moisture and prevents decomposition

Finishing

The pultruded thresholds can be painted in any color, foiled or have a wooden finnish. The low thermal conductivity also makes it warm to touch while long lasting and easy to clean

Composite thresholds can be pre-cut and drilled in our factory, a CNC-machine is used for more advanced operations. Additionally, we offer the option to pre-assemble sealing strips and insulation, ensuring that the threshold is prepared for direct assembly onto the door frame.
